ICON survey
By the end of 2006 we began to work in the intention of building an ‘Intentional Community’ in Mexico. After working in our visions and co-sensing into the field our first attraction became wider and transformed into ICON, which dream is to become a network of Integral Sustainable Communities.
This intention came with a question ‘How does an integral sustainable community looks like?’
Looking for this answer we did diverse kinds of community research, interviews, readings. We went through several communities and spent hours on the intention to reach the core of what makes a integral sustainable community. Upon initial research of this arena, the deepness of the experiences, the platforms, the processes, the techniques, the truths and virtues, the ways of each community and their unique relation with the divine left us breathless more that one time. It also gave us the awareness of the struggles, the questions, the blindspots of some which may be the strengths of others.
We also found that this beautiful individuals and communities are struggling for more completeness, higher levels of integration, weather is in their being, doing or having, in the individual or collective level, they are all thirsty to share, co-create and expand into the next step of our evolution as community co-creators.
Our antennas also pointed us to dozens of initiatives for building communities. Amazing, inspired visions of the Good, Truth and Beautiful which would benefit from the perspectives of the ones doing them.
What then?
The further we went the more we reached a point where we want to empower, contribute, serve to the unfolding of Integral Sustainable Communities through highliting the knowledge, consciousness, spirit driving the creation of communities today. We don´t have the answers but the miracle called WE does.
Our first contribution to the field was to facilitate a possibility of the possibility. What we created was a survey using the Integral framework based on the work of Barret C. Brown who serves as Co-Director of Integral University’s Integral Sustainability Center, which applies Integral Theory to sustainable development issues.
Our intention is to raise our understanding and perspectives through the answers of the most integral individuals we know, some of them living in community others envisioning them. Thus collectively weave, enrich, populate the field of emerging and developing Communities through the beauty of individual inspiration and sharing with the commons.
The invitation to participate in this exercise was sent to a group of about 80 persons with experience in communities, including the following organizations (Auroville, Bioregional, Biosphere2, enlighteNext, Integral Institute, GEN among others.
This weblog is the sharings of the WE. We are in full gratitude with the people that gave us their trust, time and energy for this blog to exist. We believe this is the first stage of a bigger journey into the future.
Enjoy!
